I’ve been loving it here so much that I’m actually considering moving all my content creation on Substack.
Normally, I post on my blog, send my weekly newsletter to my email list (this will stay as it’s my biggest asset and relationships I cherish and have been forming for years), and post on socials.
But what’s happening on Substack is more powerful, more consistent, actually gives some ROI, I enjoy it so much, and there’s such a wonderful community of writers and readers around here.
Instagram and TikTok are the opposite.
They aren’t really the place for introverts, for creatives who work with their words not with visuals, for people who prefer long-form content, and those who don’t like to be in front of the camera.
Also, too much is happening on socials and too fast. The algorithm is wild, and right now on Instagram, most of your followers never see your content. So everyone’s fighting for attention.
People’s attention span on TikTok is shorter than usual, but for writers and creators who prefer to do things at a slower pace, it can be overstimulating.
It’s also easy to go down the rabbit hole, and to consume content you don’t really want to waste time on.
Substack, on the other hand, is where thought leadership thrives.
It’s where people share anything real from personal transformations and daily routines, to poems and tech news and business strategies. It’s where exerts on anything - from nervous system regulation to AI - write pieces that can actually make a difference in our lives. Pieces worth more than a quick Reel which we don’t even remember the next day.
And growth can happen fast on Substack too, and yet it feels more meaningful.
You connect, post, show up consistently, and the platform rewards you for that.
You find wonderful people who want to support your work, and you feel like at home.
Being on social media drains me.
Being on Substack fuels me.
I think that says it all.
Tell me, is that what you’ve experienced around here too?
And are you planning to fully replace social media with Substack?
Best,
Lidiya
